First official BNM meeting

Written by :Ruby A. Rodriguez

WOW! This three letter word pretty much sums up what I was feeling as I sat at a table with an ordinary group of people planning extraordinary things for our local church. Pretty much the entire meeting I was quiet because all the ideas being shared were exactly what God had placed in my heart. I could’ve shared that, but it was overwhelming to see how God was bringing together this group of 6 people, whom for the most part had never met each other before, but came with a same vision. A vision is defined as “a thought, concept, or object formed by the imagination” (Merriam-Webster), but our vision goes beyond that. Our vision is not what WE imagined but our vision is a glimpse of God’s heart.

For all of you who don’t know much, or perhaps nothing at all, about Broken No More Productions here’s a, I guess you can call it, description of what this ministry is about in the words none other than Denise (the one who started it all) just the way she described BNM to me.

Well here is some basic info about broken no more (bnm) we are a concert     promotion company/ multimedia/ event coordinator/ graphic design/ type of    ministry. There is no real “group” we fall in because we are so diverse and appeal to     many different cultures and aspects of ministry.  BNM is not affiliated with any     specific church, or religion we are just Christ followers, believers that God is God and we are here to serve Him. We are all part of different churches but agree that there    is much work to be done here in the Valley for the youth generation.

-Denise

Our desire is not to entertain, I think there are enough entertainers in the world, but our desire is to work to make worship nights happen (which is completely different than your typical concert atmosphere). Worship has been limited to just being expressed through ‘praise and worship’ music, but worship can be captured in rock, rap, country music, you name it. Worship is not defined by the song being sung in a given genre, but worship is what comes from our hearts to God. And we are not limiting these events to only those who have been saved, but we’re clearly using Jesus’ ministry as an example, with a mission to reach out to the lost.

God has something great in store for us here in the valley, and every else. I believe we as a church have been spiritually dormant for far too long. It’s time to take the stand for what we have been called for and actually start living the life of a ‘Christian.’ That being, first of all, being a reflection of who Christ was when He was here on Earth, loving everyone no matter their ‘salvation status’ for love is the greatest commandment given to us  and let’s not forget what else we’ve been asked to do… “”Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” (Mark 16:15)

Pretty much that sums up what I have to say, I just want to encourage you to get involved in your church, and let’s start making Jesus known! For the best days aren’t behind the church, our best days are ahead of us.

Be blessed,

Ruby A. Rodriguez

No Glitz and Glamour from us!

Saturday was the big day Rush of Fools in the Valley! We (broken no more) had been planning for this concert since about late December. In October we received a call from The Access’s manager inviting us to check out The Access with Rush of Fools in concert in Del Rio. So I drove up there only to be amazed and impressed by the Access and Rush of Fools.  A few weeks past and I was offered the opportunity to host these 2 amazing bands in the Valley. So the planning process began, the promoting began, and production started to get on its way.  BNM promoted this concert HARD, flyers, posters, mail outs, email blasts, you name it we did it.  We wanted people to take something away from this concert and we wanted to be different, stand out, and show people that we are more than just a regular concert you were going to leave with something much more than just buzzing ears!

Saturday came around and it was 8am we got on the road, packed up the cars and headed out to the venue for the concert. We started setting up, picked up lunch for the bands and sound was being worked on. A little after lunch we were all just hanging around when suddenly you see smoke coming out of the amps!  The first amp blew up!  About 3 seconds later, the 2nd amp blew out!  The church was filled with smoke. So now what?  It was 3:30 doors were going to open at 5 and we had no sound no lights.  Everyone who knows me knows that I walk around with a note pad of lists, and things to do and stuff I plan for, this was not one of those things on the list! Lol

We managed to plug in to the churches sound system and used theirs as a back up and the bands decided to go acoustic.  The bands quickly plugged in did a 10 minute sound check and we went on.

This NEEDED to happen not only to show me but to show others that it’s not about how many lights you can get, not about how many speakers you can rent, or about how much your ears are ringing after a concert, but when you attend a Christian concert motivated by a team that is God fearing, faith filled and with no hidden agendas you leave with something so much more. Yes the lights are great, yes the loud speakers are great, and yes the glitz and glamour is fun.  But God doesn’t need a microphone to say what He needs to say, He doesn’t need a light show to get your attention He needs your heart, and your  willingness  to be sensitive to His spirit.  And I honestly truly believe that His spirit was there on Saturday night. If you were expecting a rock show you didn’t get it but instead you left with a message.

This proves beyond any doubt that Broken No More is different.  No matter how hard we planned, and prepared for that night, God had Hand in control and really let us see that, that night.  One of our slogans is “ This is not just another concert” and honestly it really wasn’t.  Thank you for everyone who made it out and supported this event, we would love to hear you comments, questions and concerns.  Feel free to email me at denise@brokennomore.net or give me a call 956-212-5330 we are here and ready to hear from you. Thank you and God bless!
